Advice for going on a roller coaster the first time?

Hershey Park is a lot of fun. The roller coaster selection depends a lot on you. Are you a thrill-seeker who isn't afraid of heights? Or, do you not like heights and thrills. Ask yourself those questions. As soon as you get to the park, try to ask a park employee/attendant which roller coaster is the mildest for kids your age. Also ask which ones have the most thrills, since you may want to avoid them. Before you get on a coaster, see if you can watch the ride one time, and see how watching it makes you feel. Listen to your self -- if it makes you feel uncomfortable to watch it, then don't go on. When you're in a coaster, try to get a car in the middle and definitely not in the front row. Of course, be sure you follow the safety rules (head, arms, legs in the car) and buckle up. Sad to say that there are too many deaths each year from not following the most basic rules. Don't wear flip flops on roller coasters or other high-thrill rides. Hershey Park has a web site, so you can go on and look at the park's map. Scope out where the roller coasters are. I think the map may have a legend on it that tells you how "thrilling" each of the rides is, including the roller coasters. That can help you in making your decisions about which rides you're going to go on.
