Long lasting Cough over 8 days with dark mucus discharge?

I have had this cough now for little over 8 days now, the first day it was a dry itchy throat over next 3-4days it turned into a bad cough. At first i thought it was a cold or flu so i was taking some NyQuil to get rid of it, well at night as im going to bed im all good and usualy for the first 2-3hrs after i wake up in the morning. But i still cough alot during the day time with the occasional dark mucus coming up. I have no idea if it might be Some form of bronchitis and i dont have any medical coverage at all to make a visit to a doctor nor a way to pay for a visit or meds if i where to go. Anyone got some suggestions please let me know
