Why does Dale Earnhardt Junior even need a crew chief?

Every driver needs a crew chief. And I want to like Lance McGrew, because I think he's a good chief, better than Eury Jr. But the chemistry is even worse than it once was. Lance is taking the idea of "controlling your driver" way too far and quite frankly he is acting like a jerk to Jr. over the radio. I've heard it, the guy is ridonkulous. But to be honest, I've about given up on Jr. too.
